Biography

Currently Internal Research Fellow in SAR (Synthethic Aperture Radar) signal processing at the Europe Space Agency (ESRIN), I am broadly interested in microwave applications for detection or communications. The areas of expertise acquired during my Ph.D. in SAR signal processing and post-doctorate are mainly focused on radar imaging, electromagnetic modelling, signal processing, polarimetry and statistical change detection.

Research

I am currently working on the future ESA BIOMASS mission that will be the first P-band SAR mission in Space and the first full polarimetric SAR from ESA. More specifically we investigate new scientific applications benefiting from the interesting physical properties provided at P-band such as deeper penetration in soils and higher sensitivity to dielectric properties.
My research activities consists in two main areas:
– One aspect is dedicated to the study of low frequency radar sensitivity to seawater dielectric properties for sea surface salinity retrieval.
– I also focus on studying the opportunities that will provide BIOMASS for cryosphere sub-surface monitoring, benefiting from the different acquisitions configurations in each phases of the mission (Commissioning, Tomographic, Polarimetric).
