Biography

I am a visiting scientist at ESRIN’s Science Hub and a PhD researcher with the Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling at Northumbria University, UK.
I graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2021 with a BSc in Geography and MSc(Res) in Polar Science, and began my PhD in autumn 2021.

Research

In my research I use satellites, and in particular ESA’s CryoSat-2 satellite, to study trends in Arctic sea ice, and investigate how these changes will impact climate, ecosystems, and the economy. I have focused on changes in Arctic sea ice thickness and concentration, and conducted satellite validation work to improve on sea ice observations from satellite radar altimetry.
In my research visit at ESRIN, I am investigating the potential for sea ice concentration estimates from satellite altimetry.
I have also taken part in fieldwork campaigns on the Greenland Ice Sheet and on sea ice in the Arctic.
