Biography

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources and the Center for Geospatial Analytics at NC State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. My group seeks to answer diverse questions about plants on Earth using remotely sensed imagery. Food security, climate resiliency, plant phenology, and the carbon cycle are of particular interest. We like to develop methods of creating useful knowledge from satellite images, and are particularly fond of data fusion, time series analyses, and Bayesian statistics. While on sabbatical at ESRIN, I am eager to learn from colleagues in the ScienceHub and elsewhere to advance our mutual interests and develop new projects.

Research

My group is interested in vegetation dynamics across Earth. Plant phenology, agricultural production, climate resiliency, and the carbon cycle are of particular interest. To answer these questions, we develop new methods of extracting information from remotely sensed image time series, typically employing advanced statistical approaches.
